Food Waste Program

The Food Waste Program is operated across the High Desert Food Collaborative (HDFC), High Desert Second Chance (HDSC), and the Community Action Partnership San Bernardino County to minimize food waste sent to landfills.

While our first priority is distributing food to people, sometimes there is excess food, food past its expiration, or perishables no longer fit for human consumption. We divert this food waste to local farmers for livestock feed or for composting. If a truck hauling food on the interstate has an accident, we can help salvage that food and put it to use, rather than sending it to a landfill.

If you are a local farmer or raising animals, join our contact list to be notified when we have food waste available.

If you run a kitchen, or are holding an event that will have food waste, contact us to find out how to participate in our program.
