Our Programs
USDA Commodities Program
Every third Friday of the month, at the Newberry Springs CSD building from 9 to 11 a.m. our volunteers distribute shipments of nutritious food from the USDA and the Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County (CAPSBC). This monthly event reflects our commitment to combating food insecurity and strengthening the Newberry Springs community.
Food Distribution Program
Working with Community Action Partnership San Bernardino County, High Desert Second Chance, and the High Desert Food Collaborative we distribute donated fresh food to the community before it reaches its expiration.
Newberry Springs Distribution on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month.
Yermo Distribution on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month.
No Food Goes to Waste Program
We operate a food waste diversion program. Recycling perishable items, including organic waste in produce, back out to our local farmers, livestock owners, Ranchers and Compost leaders. Landfills emit the majority of man-made methane emissions in California. Our goal is to cut down on food waste going to landfills and cutting down on green-house gas emissions.
Thrift Store Program
Our volunteers operate a thrift store at the Newberry Springs Service Association, formerly known as the Seniors Center. Donations are sold at fair market value, discounted rates, or distributed freely to our community, as well as delivered to neighboring communities depending on stock and need.
