The Story of Our Start

For several years, individuals within our community would meet and informally operate the USDA Commodities Food Distribution at the Newberry Springs CSD building.

In 2022, through personal donations, a group of those volunteers founded the Mojave Trails Outreach & Food Pantry as a non-profit charitable organization with 501c3 status.

What We Do

We formally took on the responsibilities of operating the USDA Commodities Food Distributions each month through the CAPSBC Community Action Partnership San Bernardino County. We also expanded to bring donated fresh vegetables and food to the community in partnership with High Desert Second Chance and the High Desert Food Collaborative nearly weekly through our Food Distribution Program. We distribute donated clothing and blankets within our community, and also send bulk donations of clothing to neighboring communities. We have started working with the Family and Kids Foundation to bring donated new home goods and children’s toys to the community.

For Thanksgiving 2023, our volunteers cooked and served a free dinner in the parking lot of the Barn on Route 66. All of this has been made possible through the donations of items to our partners, local resources provided by government, businesses and civic organizations, financial support from the community through donations and local fundraising, along with the funding, time, sweat and resources of our directors and volunteers.
